A Mothers Hug – Images We Love

A Mothers Hug - Mother hugs her son to congratulate him on his marriage

Images We Love – A Mothers Hug

This is an image from a wedding in February this year. After the ceremony, the couple waited in the entrance to the church, as the guests exited, as it was raining outside. There wasn’t a lot of room and I had to press myself up against the wall with the 24mm f1.4 to have any chance of getting an image. However, it was worth it. This is from a whole series of lovely guest pictures I shot as they congratulated the couple and stepped outside, to await the confetti throw. When I can, I always enjoy standing behind the couple yo capture the guests faces when they are congratulating them, as the guests switch off their camera awareness. They become totally absorbed in the moment and so they ignore my lens  and allow me to do what I’m good at, which is to capture real candid moments from a wedding day. I just love the expression on mum’s face, she’s so happy for her boy. The light is perfect – from a small window behind me and the doorway to my right and the whole scene is framed by the bride’s face and the groom’s father behind on the right. Just a lovely moment in time, captured forever.

Capturing real emotions and real moments is what documentary wedding photography is all about.
